Science

Ask students to make, compare, and analyze observations.
   
Require students to collect and organize data.
   
Ask students to identify independent and dependent variables.
   
Ask students to develop tests and experiments to check predictions and test hypotheses.
   
Teach students to use a variety of technologies to collect, analyze, and present data related to scientific decision making, problem solving, and hypothesis testing.
   
Ask students to use appropriate units of measurement and label all measurements, tables, and graphs.
   
Expect students to “think about their thinking” in science.
   
Provide a positive model for “doing science” and thinking scientifically.
   
Provide regular opportunities for students to work in group settings with group consensus building and decision making.
   
Help students to understand the concept of evidence.
   
Give students in reading and following directions like “do not forget to label contents,” drawing webs to show relationships, and using information from resources to answer questions.
