Letter From Joann A. McDonald:
I want to introduce myself as Charles Herbert Flowers School Based Parent Liaison.
My name is Joann A. McDonald.
The School Based Parent Liaison is a new position in many Prince George’s County Schools. It was created by the school board to provide services to facilitate improved parental involvement, communication and collaboration between school staff and families of students in order to enhance student achievement and development as successful members of society.
My job is to work with parents to improve understanding of school policies, procedures and educational requirements. The school system wants me to be your “BRIDGE” to the school system. I see a bridge as a two way system. While I help you communicate with the school, I will also work to improve the school’s communication with you.
I will, under the supervision of the school Principal Mrs. Helena Nobles-Jones, develop and implement a plan to foster families’ participation in training and educational opportunities to support the social and academic achievement of their children.
Please make me your first point of contact whenever possible regarding your needs and concerns for your children in the school. You are the primary educator of your children. We at Charles Herbert Flowers High School are here for you and the children.
