We want to ensure that every child will arrive home safely & in a timely fashion.
Uniform Policy Scotchtown Hills is a uniform school. All students are required to wear their uniform each day. The following items are not acceptable: T-shirts, fleece-wear, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jeans, or shirts with no collar. No sandals, flip-flops or white/colored sneakers please. Friday Folders Friday folders go home every Friday. Please take the time to view all important papers, especially those that require a signature. Please make sure they are returned to school the following Monday or the next school day with your signature acknowledging that you have received and reviewed all enclosed materials. Family Portal Information Family Portal is a feature of SchoolMAX that allows designated family members to view contact information, attendance, grades and discipline. If you need access, please contact our Family Portal Administrator, Mrs. Dorn-Pekins, Assistant Principal, at nic.dornpekins@pgcps.org or call the school and provide the student’s name and grade.

A Word From Mrs. Prevost… Thank you to the following for making the Scotchtown Hills’ staff/teacher feel very loved and appreciated: · Pastor McMillan and his staff from Lifehouse Church located at 1102 Montgomery St. provided lunch from Panda Express · Mrs. Yalanda Skok, PTO Corresponding Secretary, provided bagels from Panera · Green Team for our green water bottles · Happy Feet for our Pedometers As a reminder, you recently received your child’s individual spring picture package. Hope you are considering purchasing these pictures. Prices range from $15 for one sheet to $55 for the entire package which is 7 sheets. See details in your packet. Please return your payment (payable to Strawbridge Studios Inc.) along with any sheets you do not wish to purchase to your child’s teacher by Friday, May 18th. On Friday, May 25th, we will be having Career Day. Students will be able to hear and see what workers in different fields do. Congratulations to Ashley Mendez, a 3rd grade student from Mrs. Roller’s class, who came in first place in the “Be Kind to Animal” poster contest. Joanna Brown, a representative from Prince George’s County Animal Control, awarded her with a gift bag, present and a $75 gift card to Walmart. She was the recipient of this award out of 2,000 applicants from Prince George’s County Public Schools. This poster contest is conducted each year. Think about have your child participate next year. Reminder for all parents of 6th grade students, you must complete a Student Registration Form at the school and provide proof of residency by submitting settlement papers, lease/rental agreement, current rental receipt, deed of property, mortgage statement, letter from apartment complexes on official letterhead, or a current property tax bill. These documents must be originals and the office will make the appropriate copies. This must be completed before June 4th. If you have any questions, please contact the office at 301-497-3994. Now that the allergy season is in full swing, there are many students wanting to stay inside during recess. If your child needs to stay in the building and not participate in recess due to allergies/asthma, you will need to notify your child’s teacher in writing and include the specified time frame such as the number of days or period of time (from month to month). Please be aware that your child will be excluded from outdoor activities (examples: Field Trips, Field Day, Recess) that occur during your requested time frame. If medication needs to be administered to your child, you will need to obtain a medication form from our Nurse, Mrs. Smith. Children staying in for recess will be sitting in another teacher’s classroom. It is important that you impress upon your child that they are not to be disruptive as he/she will be a guest in that teacher’s classroom.All visitors are welcome in the building. Please sign in at the office and receive a visitor’s badge before proceeding to your destination. General News & MessagesRegistration-Before & After School Extended Learning Program (BASELP) – Registration for the 2012-2013 school year will begin on May 22, 2012. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Lilane Parent, Coordinator at 301-498-6589. Field Day Is Coming - Ms. Santuccio, Coordinator Wednesday, May 30th - Grades 1, 2, 3 (8:00am -11:00am); Grades HS, K (11:00am-1:30pm) Thursday, May 31st -Grades 4, 5, 6 (8:00am-11:00am) PreK will be having their own Field Day. Date and time to be determined. This year, Ms. Santuccio is looking for only donations of gallon-size containers of water and 8oz cups.
