What happened in our classrooms
2010-11

See what happened in 2009-10

There's more to school than...

class work,

eating lunch,

and standing in line.

See what else we're doing at Tulip Grove

March 30, 2011.  The whole school goes on a field trip to see the Maryland Gymkana.

January 2, 2011.  Councilman Turner came back to Tulip Grove to share Frindle by Andrew Clemens with Ms. Landefeld's fourth grade class.

January 10, 2011.  The Science Club took a close look at owl pellets.

You never know what you'll find.

Dr. Heyward takes a look.

December 2010.  Each class (and many teachers!) made snowmen to decorate our halls during the winter.  See all the snowmen here.

Mrs. Parr's class made Grover, and Ms. Nay's class a cowboy-snowman.

Ms. V's snowman is painting a self-portrait. (Art teachers always think outside the box)

A reading snowman and a Mr. B snowman.

November 22, 2010.  Science Fair.

November 2010.  Fridays before football games are always fun!

No one doubts who Mr. Taylor roots for.

October 13, 2010.  First grade went on a field trip to a farm.

That's one big animal!

And a smaller one.

Time for a hayride!

September 26-October 2010.  Ms. V's first set of art lessons...

Pre-K made self-portraits

Kindergarten loves our new playground so much, they made playgrounds out of all different shapes.

First grade made colorful fish.

Second Grade was studying silly stories.  They made silly animals by combining two different animals, and silly skeletons.  Hey, these skeletons don't look like the ones in our health book!

Van Gogh used complimentary colors, too.

Southwest landscapes were fourth grades project.

Fifth grade made sculptures out of aluminum foil.

September 27, 2010 -- Third grade goes to the Owens Science Center

.

September 23, 2010  We welcome Mr. Taylor and a second third grade classroom.  Thanks to all the parents and staff who helped put the new classroom together.

Third grade had too many students!  We were able to split them into two classes.

Mr. Taylor joined the Tulip Grove family.

Students went to work right away.

August 23, 2010   The first day of school is always exciting.

Parents and students start to gather on the plaza before 8:00.

Fathers and big sisters help walk out new kindergartners to school.

Everybody's waiting outside for the bell to ring.

Parents are excited to walk our younger students down the hall.

Older kids make their way down the hall to their new classrooms.

Kindergartners practice walking to the cafeteria for lunch.

Summer 2010.   There's so much to do before the students arrive.

Mrs. Clemens attended the American Library Association Conference.  Darth Vader gave her a copy of a Star Wars book for the school library.

Ms. Jenkins went to New York City to play the piano and sing! There were 60 pianos all across the city. The idea was for people to come and make music. Anyone could play!!

Ms. Baird installs updates all of the computer in the computer lab.

The whole school is cleaned from top to bottom.  The office and the classrooms look strange with no furniture!

Mr. Norris puts away new art supplies in the art closet.

New playground equipment is installed on both the primary and the intermediate playgrounds.
