Student Projects To celebrate the election and inauguration of President Barack Obama, Walker Mill students created a timeline of art exhibits starting with early African history and moving on to significant events and personalities in African American history culminating with President Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009. The exhibits included important kings and queens of Africa, the Middle Passage, the 14th Amendment, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall and many others. A local artist painted an impressive mural of Barack Obama welcoming Walker Mill's young scholars. All students toured the exhibits. A team of judges awarded first place to a group who created a slave hut with students posing as wax figures. Walker Mill's social studies teachers and the Assistant Principal created this informative and engaging thematic unit.
Gorgeous Prince George's Day Walker Mill students and staff planted beautiful shrubs and bushes.
