Dear Walker Mill Middle School Students and Families –

Welcome to the beginning of the 2019- 2020 school year at Walker Mill Middle School!

I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxed summer. It is that time of year I become energized for the students and staff to return as we continue to make parations for the upcoming year. The Walker Mill Middle School (WMMS) theme this year will continue to be “Excellence without Excuses”. Walker Mill’s mission is to create an environment that nurtures student creativity and academic excellence. This will be accomplished turture student creativity through quality, rigorous instruction and empower these lifelong learners who will contribute to our ever growing global community. This will be accomplished through the system of complete community. The Complete Community includes students, a dedicated staff, involved parents, student supports and community outreach.

It is an honor and privilege to be your principal and to work with our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our wonderful students, and supportive parents and community members that make this a great school.  At WMMS student achievement and individual growth are our highest priorities. We are committed to partnering with you, offering a well-rounded education, character development, and provide engaging academic challenges for all WMMS students.

Our school day is 9:30am to 4:10pm. Any student arriving after 9:40am should report to the office with documentation to receive a late slip to give to their first MOD teacher. Parents/Guardians arriving to pick students up for early departures must arrive no later than 3:30 pm, students will not be released after this time.  In addition, students will not be released to any individual NOT listed in school max. Please login to schoolmax to check the contacts list and see the registrar to update.

The updated 2019-2020 detailed student dress code is located on the school website.  Please ensure all shorts and skirts are at least fingertip length above the knees and all shirts must cover the shoulders and midriff. All pants must be appropriately sized to eliminate bagging or sagging or too tight clothing.   Pants must be worn at the natural waistline. A belt must be worn if the garment has belt loops. All garments must be in good condition and distressed and/or hole free. Earrings should be no larger than a quarter. Headbands are permitted but students are not allowed to wear headbands that protrude (for example but not limited to: cat ears, tiara, etc).  We appreciate our parents’ help with upholding our dress code.

The detailed electronic device policy is posted on our website. Please remind your students:

    • All cell phones and personal electronic devices (PEDs) must be powered off and put away during the school day, except when permission is given by a teacher or administrator to use for instructional purposes.
    • Students may not listen to music, text, make phone calls, play games, or take photos or videos at school, except under certain circumstances where permission may be granted by administration.

Parents, please do not call or text your student during the school day.  If you need to speak to your student, please call the main office and we will allow your student to come to the office to take the call.

We look forward to a very positive and productive year together!  We extend a yearlong invitation to our families to join us for school activities and events whenever possible.  We value your involvement and support in your child’s education!
